Windrush Day Celebrations – Our Plans

We’ve got a lot of exciting things planned for our Windrush Day celebration this year! We are hosting a fun filled day of music, food, stories and performances.

From June 22nd we will also have an exhibition running from our town centre premises, including pictures from the time and art, stories and poetry from local people.

We hope to see you during our Windrush 75th anniversary celebrations!

Half Term Windrush Art Club!

We’re currently getting ready for our upcoming Windrush event in June, part of this project, as always, involves the young people of this community at every step. As part of this, next week (Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd June) we are holding a FREE art club. During which the children will learn about windrush and the people who came to our country on the boat while they create pieces of art to represent the event and the time period. This club is open to 5-15 year olds and will be hosted at our new premises on Bradshawgate.

All information is on the poster but please feel free to contact us with any questions about this event ๐Ÿ˜Š We look forward to seeing you then ๐Ÿ’™

Parental Support Group

Starting from May 31st we’re running weekly parent support groups. Opening our doors fro 2 hours a week for you to come down, have a chat, meet new people and gain any support or guidance you may need.

‘The Girls Rights Network’ event ‘She’s Only Gone and Done It’

We were invited by ‘Bolton Wanderers in the Community’ to join them in a joint event with ‘The Girls Rights Network’ on the 16th March 2023. The event covered women and girls involvement in sports and how to encourage more girls and women to join sports in their schools and communities.

We sent our social media manager along to the all day event at Bolton Wanderers Stadium and she reported back very positively about the event. Each talk encouraged people to get involved with physical activity or mindfulness practices being demonstrated. One of the activities offered a tour of the stadium, where the participants got to walk around the entire building, seeing the press room, locker rooms and the pitch up close.

Overall the event was very positive and gave new insight into how women and girls are generally not encouraged to get involved in sports and ways in which we can change that.

Thank you to Bolton Wanderers in the Community for the invite and we look forward to being involved in more events like in the future.

Town Centre Open Day Networking Event

Yesterday’s open day was a fantastic day, filled with friends new and old, allowing us to showcase our future plans and we are so glad to have seen so many people from our community and voluntary sector come in for a chat! ๐Ÿ˜Š

In Picture: Charlie Barrett, Jessica, Steve and George.

Our doors opened at 11am and we hosted 4 hours of food, networking and a speech by Charlie to explain our aims here and thank everyone for coming.

Overall it was a fantastic event and we’re so glad we got the chance to have everyone in to see what we’re doing next.
