Yesterday, we had a team of managers from Wickes rent our office space for their managers meeting. We hosted 22 people who all had a good time and got through everything on their agenda.
This is the first time we’ve hired the space out for local businesses to use and we look forward to seeing who else can make use of this space in future!
Yesterday the women of Harmony attended ‘Endeavour Projects’ women’s day event at the victoria halls!
It was a wonderful event with music, crafts and so much more. Tyrelle had a go of the Henna table and Jessica made friends with the hosts through the ‘what would make our community safer’ board.
Overall, it was an amazing event and we can’t wait to get involved in more events in the future.
We’ve had a fun and fantastic start to 2023 already! We were invited, along with a group of Harmonys young people to join #TeamBolton for a 3-course meal and cinema trip on Friday the 6th Jan and we had a fantastic time! The food was fantastic and the children all loved joining in on a fancy meal and free trip to the light cinema. We’re so grateful to have been given the opportunity to join team Bolton and the team behind the HAF projects for this event and look forward to a new year of HAF clubs and more!
Our Summerzone activities have come to an end and the children had a fantastic time at our fancy dress party! We’ve seen so many brilliant costumes, characters and outfits in our centre, we can’t believe it’s all over already.
We want to take the time to send a massive thank you to all our staff and volunteers who gave Harmony so much time, energy and love these past couple of months and made this Summerzone our best yet!
Last night (23rd June 2022) Harmony had the honour of being nominated for ‘Bolton at Home’s’ coveted ‘Star of the Community’ award Though we didn’t win it was a wonderful evening and an honour to be considered for such an award #SOTCA22
Today we have had some wonderful students from St Thomas’ Primary school in for a day of fun and activities! The children have all been having an amazing time and trying out all we have to offer here at Harmony.
Headteacher Mrs Abigail Fielden said: “The children have had a great time.”
Some Pictures from Yesterday’s visit from JD Foundation
It was truly a fantastic day, the children had such a good time and went home overjoyed with their goody bags! It was a delight recording with Luci and we are so looking forward to seeing and showing you the final videos.
Massive Thanks to JD foundation for a brilliant day
Mark Logan MP and member of Parliament for Bolton called in for a visit, accompanied by his assistant, Maya Roberts. It was great to see both of them and the children had a great time talking to them both and joining in the fun photo shoot.
A huge thank you to the ‘Vinci UK Foundation’ represented by Michelle Curzon, for their donation. We really appreciate it.
Below is the video of this visit, please give it a watch:
Tuesday 22nd June 2021 is Windrush Day. We at Harmony will be celebrating and educating on the Windrush story.
Many Commonwealth citizens arrived in the UK before British nationality and immigration law made any distinction between British subjects, whether born and living in the UK or elsewhere in the Empire. This began to change in the 1960s, when successive Commonwealth Immigrants Acts introduced immigration restrictions on a growing number of British subjects from outside the UK. Still, many Commonwealth citizens were encouraged to come to fill jobs as bus drivers and nurses and other jobs subject to labour shortages. Decades later, it is clear that those responsible for immigration policy have given no care to these people. Recognition of their circumstances, status and rights has been erased from the guidance issued to Home Office staff.
Amongst making a video, play and dancing, we will be holding an exhibition, including images, art, stories, poems and facts about Windrush, included will be singing, dancing, disco and food. We will also have a street dance team with pop up stall and snacks supplying information on Windrush. We will be advertising details soon.
The video below is an open and emotional debate by Harmony Youth Project. A three part discussion with more episodes to come trying to capture views from both sides of political views.
Follow our YouTube to catch the next episodes and be a part of the discussion.
