THE JULIA AND HANS RAUSING TRUST

We are delighted that ‘The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust‘ have been kind enough to fund our charity for core costs in this  difficult time, this will allow us to kick start our finances for the ongoing future.

The Julia and Hans Trust play a substantial part of supporting charities all over the UK and show their support, charities such as ourselves have been crippled due to Government lockdowns and two waves of Covid here in Bolton, we are very grateful for their help during this difficult time.

Thank you again, to The Julia and Hans Rausing Trust. Please take a look at the great work this organisation does by following the link attached to their name above.

JD Sports come up with the goods!

We at Harmony Youth Project would just like to give a massive thank you to the team at JD sports. They have donated boxes full of merchandise for the kids here at harmony. We did a photo shoot with the children and they were over the moon with the new hats and bags they received. So again, just a massive thank you to JD sports from the team here at Harmony and from the children who were thrilled with their new accessories.

Windrush Day Celebrations

Tuesday 22nd June 2021 is Windrush Day. We at Harmony will be celebrating and educating on the Windrush story.

Many Commonwealth citizens arrived in the UK before British nationality and immigration law made any distinction between British subjects, whether born and living in the UK or elsewhere in the Empire. This began to change in the 1960s, when successive Commonwealth Immigrants Acts introduced immigration restrictions on a growing number of British subjects from outside the UK. Still, many Commonwealth citizens were encouraged to come to fill jobs as bus drivers and nurses and other jobs subject to labour shortages. Decades later, it is clear that those responsible for immigration policy have given no care to these people. Recognition of their circumstances, status and rights has been erased from the guidance issued to Home Office staff.

Amongst making a video, play and dancing, we will be holding an exhibition, including images, art, stories, poems and facts about Windrush, included will be singing, dancing, disco and food. We will also have a street dance team with pop up stall and snacks supplying information on Windrush. We will be advertising details soon.

This project has been funded by the government.

Harmony Food Parcel Provision

We have joined forces with ASDA Homeless Aid UK (who also provide all our packed lunches) and Morrisons to supply food in the Breightmet and Sutton estates. This has been facilitated by Clarion Housing.

Our team have been delivering to those in need all this week. Clarion Housing have been excellent in supporting Harmony through good times and bad.

Pictures from these trips are below!

(Faces have been covered for data protection. Including the cat, which George felt deserved data protection as well.)

Harmony Youth Project fights for its future

Attached below is the newspaper article in the Bolton News, about lack of funding now that Bolton Council have handed over grant giving to Bolton CVS. Charlie puts the point across that we are needed by the young people in our community now more than ever and that our proven project application was substantially higher in quality than those who received grants. There has been a lot of controversy on social media regarding Bolton Council and Bolton CVS but as a non political biased organisation we never get involved with such matters.

Our latest music video! “Stay Safe”

Our latest music video is now up and running! Funded by Bolton CVS, the young people from Harmony had great fun writing, filming and performing for the video. We are promoting best we can as we feel the content can be uplifting and inspirational to all young people during these difficult times. If you enjoy our video please give it a like on YouTube and share it with your friends.

Looking Ahead!

We would like to extend our services especially in providing essentials like food to our community. We already provide a safe space and packed lunches at our after school clubs throughout the week, we are now taking steps to find resources and form partnerships with food suppliers around Bolton and surrounding areas. On this front we have gained trust from Homeless Aid UK along with Morrisons Atlas Mill.

This project will require management and funding for volunteer expenses, delivery, storage, ect. We will endeavour to pursue this draught project for the good of all, watch this space.
