Resources for young people and families
At Harmony Youth Project, we understand that anxiety can feel overwhelming. It can affect people of all ages, from young children to adults. Sometimes it comes and goes. Other times, it can feel constant and difficult to manage.
That’s why we’ve created this page of support resources. Here, you’ll find trusted information, guidance and organisations that can help you understand your anxiety and take small steps towards feeling more in control.
For more direct support, contact 1point North West to speak to a professional.
What is anxiety?
Anxiety is a natural response to stress or uncertainty. However, when it becomes frequent or intense, it can begin to affect daily life.
People may experience:
- Constant worry or overthinking
- Feeling restless or on edge
- Difficulty sleeping
- Panic attacks or sudden waves of fear
- Physical symptoms such as a racing heart or stomach discomfort
Although these feelings can be difficult, it’s important to know that you are not alone. With the right support resources, many people learn ways to manage and reduce these symptoms.
Simple ways to manage anxiety
Alongside professional support, small daily actions can help.
For example:
- Try slow, steady breathing when feeling overwhelmed
- Keep a simple routine to create structure in your day
- Talk to someone you trust about how you feel
- Take breaks from social media if it increases stress
- Get fresh air or gentle exercise where possible
These steps won’t remove anxiety overnight. However, they can help you feel more grounded and in control over time.
You are not alone
Mental health struggles can feel isolating. However, many people experience anxiety at some point in their lives. With the right resources, support networks and coping tools, things can improve.
