'Your love and their story' - A video memory keepsake
A Past Project by Harmony Youth Project
This video memory keepsake project was a previous initiative from Harmony Youth Project. It helped families capture and preserve the stories, personalities and life experiences of loved ones.
Although we no longer offer this service, it remains an important part of our journey. It reflects our commitment to creativity, storytelling and meaningful community work.
About the video memory keepsake project
The video memory keepsake project focused on recording personal stories in a sensitive and respectful way.
We worked closely with individuals and families. Together, we planned how best to capture their stories. Then, we filmed relaxed and non-intrusive interviews. As a result, people felt comfortable sharing meaningful memories.
In turn, each film captured the individual’s personality. It also highlighted important life events and experiences. Therefore, every video memory keepsake became a lasting record for families to treasure.
How the project worked
Each video memory keepsake followed a simple and supportive process.
First, we spoke with families to understand their wishes. Next, we filmed the interview in a calm environment. This helped people feel at ease. After that, we edited the footage with care and attention.
We combined video with music and visuals that reflected the person’s interests. As a result, the final film felt personal and meaningful. Families then received a polished video via disk, memory stick or file transfer.
What was included
As part of the video memory keepsake project, we provided:
- DBS-checked videographer (safeguarding certified)
- A professional and sympathetic approach
- High-quality filming and editing
- Choice of artwork for case and disc
- Final film delivered in multiple formats
- Option to include personal photos, notes and titles
- Additional copies available for family and friends
Each film was carefully created to reflect the life and character of the person being recorded.
A lasting impact
The video memory keepsake project showed the power of storytelling.
It allowed families to preserve voices, memories and personal histories. As a result, many films became treasured keepsakes. Families could revisit and share them across generations.
Moreover, the project supported connection and reflection. It also highlighted how creative work can support wellbeing.
Although this video memory keepsake service has ended, it still shapes our approach today.
We continue to support young people and communities through arts, media and storytelling. In fact, many of our current projects build on the same values.
