Premire of ‘STINGS’

Our short film STINGS was premiered today with the whole school from St. Ethelberts primary school in Bolton. Everyone was excited and proud of their work, the film written, filmed and produced by the children was shown to the children, teachers and parents. We awarded the pupils from year five and six with a copy of the film and certificates, all with proud faces. We thoroughly enjoy working with these children and really enjoy working with St Ethelberts primary school Bolton.

Update on ‘STINGS’

Our new short film is nearly ready for the premier showing at St Ethelberts primary school next week, the years 5 and 6 have worked with us on this production all about having good relationships with friends and also online safeguarding, look out for the film on here soon!

Laptops from Prestfield Wealth Management!

We at Harmony Youth Project in Halliwell have recently been awarded three laptop computers from Prestfield Wealth Management.

Prestfield Wealth Management are a financial advice company based on Prestwich High Street.

Liam Hunt, head of client relationships said “we are very proud to have chosen Harmony Youth Project as our charity of the year, we have seen how they have a fresh and modern approach to youth work and tackle some of the most sensitive and relevant issues that the youth of today face”

Liam Hunt and John Myatt, who are both regular visitors at Harmony presented the laptops to some of our young people, Zoe, Chantel and Scott, the computers will be used for project research but also for education in how to use email, Microsoft Office and job search to facilitate those looking for full time employment.

Charlie Barrett CEO at Harmony said “we were delighted to receive the computers; we are currently working on projects that are giving young people the tools required to safeguard themselves when choosing safe relationships, especially on the Internet, which relates to Ofsted quidlines and is particularly effective in local primary schools in our community.”

LifeBridge Referral

We are pleased to be working with Jamie, who has been referred to us from Lifebridge. Jamie is particularly interested in becoming a DJ, Jamie is also learning how to utilise the Internet as a platform for searching for music in all genres. Jamie has many hidden talents, for example, he is a real good drummer.

Along with his DJ tuition Jamie has been learning how to use Apples Logic Pro x, which is a digital audio workstation, this means he can produce his own tunes and beats. We may add that he is very polite and reserved young man who get’s on with all the staff and we look forward to seeing how he progresses in the future.

Sneak peak of ‘STINGS’

Here’s a little preview of our short film project with St Ethelberts primary school Bolton. The theme being relationships and having the tools to recognise oncoming dangers. The children from year 5 and 6 have written, performed and produced the short film that will be completed soon. Our Director George said “the children are a pleasure to work with, they now realise how involved all the work required to produce their favourite television programmes, they are now all budding actors, directors and screen writers”. Stay tuned for news of the completion of our short film.

Harmony’s Ambition for Ageing Project

This was a fantastic project to be involved in, we met so many wonderful people and learned so much from their wisdom.

The interviews were from the  Thicketford Centre. Thicketford Road, Bolton. Fantastic staff and residence, all the people being interviewed suffered from alzheimer’s but that didn’t stop them having a trip down memory lane and a good time chatting.

Please take a look and drop a thumbs up to our channel on youtube, thank you.

WW1 Exhibition open day

We had a fantastic open day with a great turn out, singing, dancing and talks from The Royal Artillery Association, along with our WW1 soldier selfie, film reels and a WW1 audio experience with sounds from the front line, everyone seemed to have a good time with free brews and pasties (big shout out to Hunters the Bakers in Bolton).

People were particularly interested in our photographs and info on local life in Bolton during WW1 which was researched specifically. Rachel Crowe was singing tunes from the era, which the children really enjoyed. The exhibition is open until the 30th November.

St James WW1 trip

We had a fantastic field trip with the fabulous staff and children from St James primary school Daisy Hill, the school are incorporated in our WW1 project, we visited 6 locations where war memorials were photographed, crayon rubbings taken and lots of artwork. All the children are very well educated on the subject of WW1 and have been a real asset to our project which lasted for 8 weeks visiting the school and having sessions including video and art. The children will be performing a special dance routine at our WW1 exhibition open day.

This trip was very generously funded by the ‘Heritage Lottery Fund’ to which we are extremely grateful.
