We’re proud to share some key highlights from Harmony Youth Project over the past few weeks, reflecting the growing impact of our work locally and nationally.

On 27th November, our Knife Crime Lead was invited to present at the House of Lords, delivering a powerful talk on knife crime, antisocial behaviour and the importance of early-intervention youth work in preventing violence. The presentation was well received and led to meaningful discussion around practical, community-led solutions.

We were also pleased to welcome Bolton MP Yasmin Qureshi to our Bradshawgate premises in Bolton town centre. During her visit, she learned more about our long-standing youth work and our current knife crime and antisocial behaviour programmes supporting young people and families across the borough.

Alongside this, we met with local Bolton Green Party councillor Hanif Ali to discuss the challenges facing young people locally, including community safety, antisocial behaviour and the need for safe spaces, early support and positive opportunities. We appreciate his time, interest and willingness to listen to local voices.

Our founder, Charlie Barrett, who has over 25 years’ experience in youth work, also shared updates on how Harmony is expanding its support services across Bolton. This includes the development of a new music studio at The Hub in Westhoughton, creating positive and creative spaces where young people can grow and thrive.

These moments highlight the importance of community-rooted youth work — giving young people a voice, providing safer spaces, and creating real opportunities for lasting change.
